Uroglena
Forms swimming colonies up to 500 micron across but the small cells sit the edge of a ball of soft clear almost invisible mucilage. The tails go right to the centre but cannot often be seen. Common in lakes pools etc. in spring 68a a colony 68b 3 cells from its edge 68c silica walled cyst or resting stage. Many members of the chrysophyceae produce these round or oval bottle-like cysts.
