Pear-shaped swimming cells 5- 25 micron long.loosely aggregated to form a colony. In hoof prints and other puddles rich in organic matter.Will sometimes appear if mud and water from these is left to stand together with a piece of a dried pea.The similar pascherina has only 4 cells instead of 8 or16.
