Cells 7-20 micron across having an axile chloroplast in the form of a plate with a central pyrenoid like Trebouxia. The plant may be filamentous (43a). Ribbon several cells wide (43 b smaller scale) or expanded into a sheet (43c natural size) Aquatic or subaerial growing on rocks frequented by birds or in other habitats rich in nitrogen.
