Ophiocytium
Cylindrical or sausage-shaped epiphytic or free floating unicells 3-20 micron diameter each with two or more pale green chloroplasts. They vary from short to very elongated and are often curved or even loosely coiled. In the common species shown here the young cells attach themselves to the lip of the mother cell wall which is itself attached to a Cladophora filament.
