Small plants with branched filaments 10-30 micron diameter. Cells have a net- like chloroplast resembling that of Oedogonium (35) and many bear long hairs with bulbous bases. They grow on other algae stones woodwork etc. standing out stiffly. Usually in slowly flowing or still water. 41a two cells 41b habit sketch.
